This magnificent house was built in 1925 after the great fire of 1922, which destroyed virtually all of Nédélec. Mr. Édouard Darveau, who owned and built the house, was appointed to head the reconstruction of the village’s main buildings following the fire. He was also the owner of a door and window manufacturing plant, a skilled carpenter and a talented artist.

Both the interior and exterior of the property were built with meticulous attention to detail. The concave, conelike turret in itself is a major feature. The Queen Ann-style house, with its turret and gallery whose posts are decorated with small, handmade, wooden slats, as well as the period of its construction are all very important elements. The carved cornices also add value to this residence.

The neo-Queen Ann style dates back to the late Victorian era. This type of home was popular among bourgeois families between 1890 and 1914.
